FAQ for this calculator

What is the baccalauréat?
The baccalauréat (Bac) is the French high-school leaving exam. The général track ends in terminale with continuous assessment plus terminal exams graded on a 0–20 scale.
What average do you need to pass?
You need a final average of at least 10/20 to obtain the Bac. Mentions start at 12 (Assez Bien), 14 (Bien), and 16 (Très Bien), with extra jury conditions for high honors.
Does this include the épreuve anticipée de français?
The anticipated French exam in première is part of contrôle continu in the reform—not entered separately here. Use the combined contrôle continu average your school provides.
Is this calculator official?
No—it applies the standard published weighting and coefficients for planning. Official marks come from the examination board and jury, including retakes and mention eligibility rules.

How to use the baccalauréat calculator

Since the 2021 Bac général reform, the final mark combines continuous assessment (40%) with terminal exams (60%). Terminal exams use fixed coefficients: Philosophie (4), Grand oral (10), and two specialty exams (16 each).

  • Enter your contrôle continu average out of 20.
  • Add expected or official grades for Philosophie, Grand oral, Spécialité 1, and Spécialité 2.
  • Tap Calculate Bac average to see the weighted final mark, pass/fail at 10/20, and mention band.
  • Adjust one exam to see how much it moves the overall average—specialty exams carry the largest coefficients.
